Merry Christmas and God Bless our Serving Military

I want to wish everyone of you who have joined or stopped by this little blog this year a most
Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year! I want to add that this one is especially happy for us because my son , Steven, who proudly serves in the USAF, is home for Christmas for the first time in four years! We have a big family and, God willing, we will all be together for the first time since 2008. I pray that all our brave men and women serving stateside and in every corner of the world can have the best possible Christmas and here`s hoping they all come home soon !
Here`s a vintage poster I found with an Air Force holiday twist. I think it is an unusual take on the traditional recruiting poster.

  2. Agreed in more ways than one! My father and 2 brothers were in the USAF. (I didn't like short hair back in the day, but now look at me...) So much we have to owe to those in the military other than just the obvious...like the free time or down time we get to enjoy, as they work away far from home at times - humbling. You have a merry Christmas as well!

    1. David, my dad and brother were Navy men and , like you, I was in no hurry in 1971 to join up. I had quite the mane back then, but alas, I`m very folicle challenged today, LOL.
Steven seemed to always be the one who was going to go the military way. He would keep me in the Army Navy store growing up.
Merry Christmas, I so enjoyed your blog and your stopping by mine this past year. I hope we both find many interesting things to post in 2013.

    2. 3 of my uncles were Navy - the 2 older were sailors stationed at Pearl Harbor on 12/7/41, but were leaving church on base when the Japanese were bombing (the last just passed away at 95 this March) - the younger brother a Navy officer. Many great stories there!

Same yo you. Just invite me to your inaugural Big Bend BBQ at your friends' place there!

    3. Wow, Pearl Harbor, 12-7-41. I`ve opnly met two others that were there that day, both gone now. One was on the Nevada. My Dad was a Navy Corpsman in WW2. Brother Viet Nam era.I suppose it`s facinating to us ,who did not serve, to try and imagine what it must have been like. My son has experienced combat and he`s not very facinated with it at all. Godspeed, David.
